Understandi ng the purpose of characters in the text

My Reflection
I have been learning to relate to the characters in the text to understand their purpose. I used a venn diagram to compare Ivan and Stella in the story the one and only Ivan. This made me realise the differences between the charters but also what made them similar. my next step is to be able to use this information to make inferences about the purpose of the charctars.

Multiplication Arrays

I have been learning to solve multiplication problems busing arrays.  I found this easy because I knew how to do it.  My next step is to learn my times tables off by heart.

I found easy because  i just have to desribe her with adjectives .I used my 5 senses to write 5 different sentences about my character .My next  step is to add more interesting adjectives .

Comparing Fairy Tales

I have been learning to make identfy common themes in fairy tales fractured tales We read two natures  called red ridding hood and into the forest.A common theme and into the forest.A common theme i
made from these stories was mixed up fairy tales .  I found this easy  My next step is to write my own fractured fairy tale.

Adding Single Digit Numbers Using Part Whole Strategies

I have been learning to use strategies to solve addition problems.  I found this hard because it was hard to split the numbers.  My next step is to keep working on these strategies.

                                         beginning.  I drew Rongo and i used some adjectives
                                         to describe him.  I enjoyed this activity.

Features of persuasive Writing

We have been learning to identify the features of persuasive  writing. I found this tricky because i had to try and get the right answer and it was rely hard.  Something i learned was what a rhetorical questions was.  My next step is to write my speech.

I have been learning to find information about my speech topic.  I used Instagrok and other websites to research my speech topic which is stop smoking .I found this interesting because i know how it feels to smoke be cause my uncle smokes.  My next step s to plan my speech.

I have been learning to make a justified prediction about a text .  I found it tricky to make a prediction because I had to try and think of the blurb.  MY next step is story to see if i'm right.

Comparing Celebrations

We have been learning to compare and contrast different celebrations.  My group researched information about Eid. Something I found interesting was photos.Next we worked with another group and used a Venn diagram to compare our celebrations.Things that were the same were family.My next step is to put more detail and information in the Venn diagram.

We have been learning about celebrations.  There are different types of celebrations.We had to talk about these celebrations and decide what type of celebrations they were.  I found this tricky because i had to think witch celebrations i had to put in family and the others.

I have been learning to use strategies to add detail to my writing.  I wrote about a moment in time during my holiday.  I used my 5 senses to add detail to my writing. I need to improve my writing.My next step is to  use wow words adjective verbs.                                                

Prefix Root Suffix

I have been learning to use my knowledge of prefixs and suffix to read and understand the meaning of words.A prefix is a group of letters that come at the beginning of the word that can change the meaning of the word.A suffix is a letter or group of letters at the end of the word to form anther word or new meaning.
I found this tricky because i was trying to figer out the suffix and prefix.My next is to identily  the root words.

The best part of this was learning more about camouflage.

I found this easy because we had to see how many tens and ones.  My next step is to add two digit numbers together.

My Pepeha Art

This is my pepeha art . A pepeha is a way of introducing yourself in maori.I have included my maunga  ( (mountin) my awa  ( river  my culture and place which is special to me.My  favourite part of this was coluring  new zealand  flag.I enjoyed doing this art work.

I have been learning to collect data using a tally graph.I found this easy because you only had to go to a person  and ask them what is  there favourite sport is. We had rugby netball touch cricket swimming.I was surprised that rugby had 13 votes.My next step is to show the data  on different types of graphs.

We have been learning to write a bio poem.  A  bio poem  is a poem written about ourselves.  It has a special structure that we had to use to write our poems.  I found this easy and tricky because i was learning
a new thing and it was a great challenge.  My next step is keep on trying more challenges that are harder.

Welcome to my Year 4 leaning blog.  This year I am in Room 12 and my teacher is Mrs Melville.  I enjoy reading and writing. This year i am looking forward to doing swimming I hope you will enjoy my blog and leave lots of feedback.
